Types of Cloth Diapers

Isnin, 7 November 2011

This entry is especially for Miss Ira, just to explain a bit about cloth diapers.

There are many types of cloth diapers.

1.Pocket diapers

i have no idea where this image originally come from, but it is so popular among the e-stores

the picture is self-explanatory, right? the insert is usually made of microfiber (something like towel material) or hemp/ bamboo / cotton. they come in sized - S, M,L , XL or one size. in one size CD, there are snaps on the front, so that you can adjust the length and it fits your baby until he/she is potty trained.

2. Flats/prefolds

Flats are the traditional lampin that our grandma / mother used when we were young. in US their variation is the prefolds , whereby there are extra layers in the center to increase absorbancy. but for both, you have to use pin/ Snappi and a cover to prevent leaks .

3. Fitted Diapers

fitted diapers are diapers that have closure, and elastics around the legs and waist. the material used can absorb pee/poo but they require a cover for a complete waterproof experience. you can use during daytime for more breathability.

4. All in One

all-in-one is like pocket diapers, but with the inserts sewn already. so you don't have to do anything, just use it like disposable.

5. All-in Two

all-in-two consists of a shell/cover and inserts, whereby u can reuse the shell/cover if it is not soiled and just change the inserts. a lot of companies are going towards this now as it promotes less laundry and cheaper. Grobaby, Myeconappy and Flip (from cottonbabies) are examples of this.

the diagrams are taken from here.
